Visit Petralona’s Cave, one of Europe’s oldest pre-historic caverns. Or Stagira, the birth place of the great philosopher Aristotle, Alexander the Great’s tutor. And of course Arnaia with its traditional architecture.

The Archaelogical Museum of Thessaloniki with findings dating from Alexander the Great’s era and earlier, or Vergina’s Archaeological Site at Aigai, the major city of Macedonians, are a must if you want trully learn about Greece’s past.
Nearby
For those who want to explore the Meteora region you can plan a full day’s visit either with your own car or by train from Thessaloniki. It is a trip worth the effort.

In addition to the above, Chalkidiki is a food lover’s paradise. Go off the “beaten track”and book a daily trip to some very interesting, “tasty” places.
